Privacy Policy

This page exists to collect a few email addresses and find out whether Souffleur should become a product. That is the whole purpose, so there is little to disclose, and what there is fits on one screen.

Who runs this

Souffleur is built and operated by one person, not a company. There is no team, no investor, and nobody else with access to what this site collects. You can reach that person at [email protected].

What this site collects

Only if you send the form:

Your email address. To write to you once, if Souffleur ships.
Your three answers: which machine you use, which AI assistant you already pay for, and what the tool would be worth to you. These are optional; the form works without them.

Whether or not you send anything:

A count of how many times this page was opened each day. Two values are stored: the date and a number. There is no identifier attached, so this count cannot tell who opened the page, or whether one person opened it twice.
A salted hash of your IP address, only when you submit the form. Your address itself is never written down. It is combined with a secret value and run through SHA-256, and only the result is stored. Without the secret the hash cannot be reversed, and the secret is not stored beside it. Its only job is to stop one machine from flooding the list with invented addresses.

What this site does not collect

No cookies. None at all, including for analytics or preferences.
No analytics service, no advertising network, no third-party scripts. The page makes no requests to any other host, and the security policy it is served with forbids them.
No browsing history, no page-to-page tracking, no session identifier.
No referrer. The site instructs your browser to send none, so it does not learn which link brought you.
No browser or device fingerprint, no user agent, no screen size.

One consequence worth stating plainly: because none of this is collected, we cannot tell which website or post sent you here, and cannot link your signup to anything else you do. That is deliberate, and it costs us information we would find useful.

Where it is kept, and who else can see it

The site and its database run on Cloudflare: Cloudflare Pages serves the page, Cloudflare D1 stores the entries, and the primary copy of that database sits in Europe. Cloudflare is therefore able to access what is stored, and, as the operator of the network in front of this site, it also handles your IP address in order to deliver the page at all. That processing is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy terms, not ours.

Mail sent to [email protected] is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to an ordinary personal mailbox. There is no mail server of our own.

Nobody else receives any of this. Your address is not sold, rented, shared, published, or handed to any mailing platform. There is no mailing platform.

How long it is kept

Until this experiment ends and a decision is made about whether to build the product, or until you ask for your entry to be removed, whichever comes first. If Souffleur is not made, the list is deleted rather than kept for later.

What you can ask for

Write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with, and you can have a copy of everything stored about you, a correction to it, or its deletion. No form and no account is needed, and there is nothing to justify. Deletion is immediate and permanent, because there is no backup archive to hunt through.

About the Souffleur application itself

The application is not available yet, so this policy covers only the website. When it does become available it will carry its own terms, but the design it is being built to is worth saying here, because it is the reason this site exists:

Audio from your microphone and your calls is processed on your own Mac and is not uploaded.
Speech recognition runs locally, on your machine's own graphics hardware.
Transcripts are stored in a file in your home folder, under your control.
To write an answer, recent lines of the conversation are sent to the AI assistant you already pay for, using your own key and your own account with that provider. What that provider does with them is governed by their terms. Nothing is routed through us, and we never see it: there is no server of ours in that path and no account with us.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If it ever changes in a way that affects people already on the list, they will be told by email rather than by a quiet edit.
